As a result of the Environmental Protection Act or
1990 a large number of industrial processes capable of pollution
of the environment have now come under the control of Her
Majesties Inspectorate of Pollution (H.M.I.P.) or indirectly
through local authorities who take advice from H.M.I.P.
The latest guide to I.P.C. was issued in 1993 and is
obtainable from Her
Majesties Stationary Office.
In particular the control of particle emissions to atmosphere
requiring authorisation under I.P.C. is being introduced progressively
between April 1991 and November 1995.
A further useful book dealing with pollution abatement
technology for particulate and trace gas removal was published
in 1994 as "Technical Guidance Note (Abatement) A3"
also available from H.M.S.O.
